Andy Didorenko

A New York-based violinist and composer Andy Didorenko was born in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine, to a family of professional violinists. Andy took his first violin lessons with his parents and made his debut with an orchestra at the age of 10. He earned his graduate and postgraduate degrees from Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory with the renowned professors Marina Yashvili and Aleksandr Melnikov, and appeared as a soloist with Moscow Symphony Orchestra and Moscow Camerata Chamber Orchestra.

Among his compositions are virtuoso pieces for solo violin, a double concerto, various chamber works, and student pieces. Since moving to New York in 2006, Andy performs regularly as a soloist and chamber musician and serves on the faculty of Kaufman Music Center. Most of his works have been premiered, published, and recorded in the US. Andy is also a leader of a contemporary rock fusion ensemble, Lost World Band, which has released several critically acclaimed albums.

Yuliya Basis

Yuliya Basis, a New York-based pianist and educator, has been teaching private piano at the United Nations International School since 2008, and at the British International School, since 2010. Born in Orel, Russia, to a family of professional musicians, Ms Basis went to Moscow at the age of 15 to study music and earned her Master’s Degree at Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory where her mentors were Victor Merzhanov (piano performance) and Tatiana Gaidamovich (chamber ensemble).

Besides teaching, she also loves collaborative piano: she has worked as an accompanist at Kaufman Music Center for over 15 years and appeared in recitals at numerous New York City venues, as well as abroad. During her free time, Yuliya loves to travel, read, cook, and explore the city where some of her favorite places to be are the Metropolitan Museum, the Metropolitan Opera, New York Botanical Garden, and Fire Island.

All proceeds from the concert will help purchase and ship medical supplies to Ukraine.

Don’t miss this magical evening of classical music for a great cause!
